Earlier this year, in doing research for the Island Book of Records, we contacted many photographers who took pictures of the Island artists between 1959-68.
John Benton Harris was an American photojournalist who lived in the UK. The only record cover pictures he took were for the Mr Fantasy album by Traffic. Last May, John gave us all of the outtakes from that session. The majority have never been seen.
John very kindly allowed us to reproduce some of those images in the book. He was very excited that his pictures would at last be seen, but sadly he never saw the finished book. He died in before the book was published.
Our condolences to his family. He was a very passionate about his work.
