The Island Book of Records 1959-68, has been nominated for the 2024 Association for Recorded Sound Collections Awards for… Excellence in Historical Recorded Sound Research.
Founded in 1966, the ARSC is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the preservation and study of sound recordings across all genres of music and speech, in all formats, from all eras.
ARSC is unique in bringing together private individuals and institutional professionals. Archivists, librarians, and curators representing many of the world’s leading audiovisual repositories participate in ARSC alongside record collectors, record dealers, researchers, historians, discographers, musicians, engineers, producers, reviewers, and broadcasters.
The winners are to be announced in September (don’t know the date) and the awards will be presented at the annual ARSC conference in Minneapolis planned for May 2025.
In layman’s terms and within its field – this is the equivalent of being nominated for a Grammy.
