A new review from Cally Calloman of Bryter Music, the Nick Drake estate

We are very thrilled to see a review of #IBoR by Cally Calloman.

‘It’s taken Neil Storey, a man who once headed up Island’s publicity department, many years to document this archive and, at last, the first volume is now in print. … What Storey has achieved is that the book is scholarly, entertaining, lavish and beautiful all at the same time. Many of us would agree that the look of music is as vital as the sound of music (“the hills are alive” etc) but this whopping 390 page all-colour first volume (1959 – 1968) has so much music contained within it’s impossible not to hear it when reading.”

Cally is a former Island Creative Director in the 90s. Now he looks after the estate of Nick Drake for Gabrielle Drake. On the NickDrake.com website, there are some interviews with Cally and a lot of other information.

There’s more infomration about Cally here on Music Weeks’s website , talking about the Nick Drake release The Endless Coloured Ways in July 2023.

Even Jayne gets a mention – which coming from another creative director is always interesting reading. “The details are exhaustive, the images beautiful and wonderfully laid out in an unfussy clear manner that never overpowers the original sleeves. ah, he’s never met Jayne. Far from unfussy.
